8pm John Robertsons The Dark Room

Welcome to THE DARK ROOM – the world’s only live-action, text-based adventure game. It’s strange, insane and addictive – it’s a choose-your-own-adventure, so choose it! How do you play? The audience is trapped in a retro videogame with a sadistic end-of-level boss. Choose your options, survive the abuse simulator that is the improv comedy overlord John Robertson, and escape to win £1000 – or, be brutally murdered by the rest of the crowd!

Now it’s 10th year, this high-octane interactive show is the brainchild of comedian & cult leader John Robertson. Filled with stand-up, appalling prizes and more audience chanting than you’d get at a protest – it’s a gut-busting rock n’ roll geek experience for everyone who buys a ticket.
John has performed The Dark Room to crowds of thousands at comedy and gaming festivals around the world including Insomnia Gaming Festival, London Film & ComicCon, Sci-Fi Weekender, Edinburgh Fringe Festival, FringeWorld Perth, Leeds International Festival, Sheffield Doc/Fest, and to millions online on his Twitch Partner channel: www.twitch.tv/robbotron

7:30pm Kuan-wen: Ilha Formosa (Work In Progress)

“Taiwanese force of nature” (Chortle) Kuan-wen traded his beloved island for the rainy British Isles.  He did this partially to escape his tiger mum after an 18-month trauma of his compulsory military service.  He uses the word 'partially' because it sounds less hurtful to his mum than using 'solely'.  He then qualified as a chartered accountant and a chartered tax advisor in the UK, only to decide the best way to honour his qualifications is to tell jokes at comedy clubs, including but not limited to jokes about VAT.  Kuan-wen welcomes you to the work in progress show of his first hour to recount how he ended up on this random journey and why, despite all the homesickness, he is not returning to his homeland.  New Acts of the Year FINALIST 2019. As heard and seen on BBC Three, BBC Radio 4 and Comedy Central UK."
